Institutional Activity

1. If a student enrolled at NYS College of Ceramics takes Alfred University courses (or vice versa), should I count credit activity just at the school level (AU Private vs NYSCC) or just count students in the school's program they were attending regardless of where the course came out of?

A: The unduplicated number of students in the Fall Activity section should match the institution’s Fall Enrollment numbers. For that reason, you should only be reporting student's course/credit activity under the school they are enrolled in. Credit   activity should be credited to the institution the student is enrolled in.

2. Per the instructions for Institutional Activity, we should exclude “students enrolled in courses at campuses in states other than New York State,” however, the instructions for Fall Enrollment state to exclude “students enrolled in any campus located in a foreign country or in states other than New York.”

A: Any student studying abroad (e.g., at a foreign university) should be excluded if their enrollment at the ‘home’ institution serves as an administrative record, and they are only paying a nominal fee.

  • Exclude students and their credit hours only if they are not paying tuition to your institution.
  • Students enrolled in any campus located in a foreign country or in states other than New York, should be excluded.

3. In the third section of the institutional activity report, first-time undergraduates has a field labeled “taking college level courses ONLY.” Is that field asking for fall only or entire academic year data?

A: Sections 3 and 4 of the first-time undergraduates’ fields must report FALL only activity levels.
