If you received an email stating that your password to the New York State Application Business Portal is expiring, please update your password. You will continue to get an email daily, starting 5 days prior to your password expiring, until your password has expired. See below for a copy of what the email looks like. At the bottom of the email are alternate instructions if the link in the email doesn’t work for you.
The Business Portal provides access to the IDEx, which is being used to collect data from institutions for many of the HEDS data collection forms. Although we know that CEOs/Presidents are not directly involved in the everyday data reporting it is necessary for them to have accounts as they oversee the staff in their institution who are responsible for these tasks.
Here is a statement directly from the SEDDAS User Guide
Super Delegated Administrator – Super DA
- can create other roles to assist in the administration of SEDDAS
- can perform all of the functions within SEDDAS
- Super DA SEDDAS account is automatically created based on the CEO of record in SEDREF via an overnight process.
- changes to CEO in SEDREF will close the SEDDAS account for the former CEO and create a SEDDAS account for the new CEO with all of the entitlements of the former CEO.

- Click Here to access the password reset WEB page, and follow steps 2 through 6 below.
- Enter your username and current password, and click the "Sign In" button.
- Enter your current password.
- Enter your new password.
- Confirm your new password.
- Click the "Submit" button.
- Upon successful change of your password, you will receive a confirmation E-Mail. If you do not receive it, please check your spam, junk (or clutter, if you have OutLook) folders.
If you are unable to sign into the New York State Education Department Application Business Portal page at http://portal.nysed.gov to change your password, or your password has expired, follow these steps:
- Go to http://portal.nysed.gov
- Click on the "Reset Password" link (located just left of the "Log In" link in the upper right hand corner of the page).
- Enter your username.
- Enter your E-Mail address.
- Click "Submit".
- You will then receive an E-Mail from NYSED containing a link to reset your password (as above).
- Upon successful resetting of your password, you will receive a confirmation E-Mail. If you do not receive it, please check your spam, junk (or clutter, if you have OutLook) folders.
Password Policy:
The new Password that you create must:
... Contain at least 8 characters
... Contain a combination of alpha and numeric characters
... Contain upper and lower case letters
... Contain at least one of the following ! @ # $ % = + [ ] { & * ( ) - } \ / ? < > ;
... Not be a previously used Password
